'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' (2011) -

The warm cyan-blue waters of Hawaii became a buccaneer's playground for Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and his crew in this particular installment of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise. Interior island shots took place on Kauai, doubling up for a voodoo-cursed island location in the Caribbean.

AnnaSophia Robb stars in this biographical drama as professional surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm to a shark in 2003 while surfing off Tunnels Beach, Kauai. Hamilton eventually returned to competitive surfing.

Steve McQueen’s famous cliff-jumping scene at the end of 'Papillon' took place from the cliffs in Maui. The location served as the coast of Devil’s Island, the infamous penal colony in French Guiana where the film is set.
