The best movies about fictional musicians
From rock to rap stars

Everyone likes a nice music biopic, but some fictional stories of musicians and bands can be equally entertaining to watch. Indeed, some of these movies are loosely based on real-life stories and do have biographical connotations, but as a whole, they are works of the imagination. 'Dreamgirls' (2006) might transport you to the story of Diana Ross and the Supremes, or '8 Mile' (2002) to the life story of the rapper Eminem, but they too are fiction.
