While modern digital technology allows musicians and singer-songwriters to release music without the need for a record label, they do require their support in order to enjoy financial backing, benefit from major marketing campaigns, foster industry connections, and achieve worthwhile career scaling—advantages that are difficult to secure alone.

And this is the difference. A record company doesn't just record and distribute music. It shapes entire genres and helps launch legendary careers.
