CELEBRITY Famous collaborations

Just because a musician's life ends doesn't mean their music has to. Many great artists have had their unreleased work shared with the world after their deaths, often in collaboration with other stars who want to pay tribute.

Paul McCartney and John Lennon were the ultimate musical duo, forming the creative partnership at the center of one of the most influential bands of all time. During the nine years that they collaborated as members of The Beatles, McCartney and Lennon wrote almost 200 songs together. When Lennon left the band in 1969, it seemed like we'd never hear a new song from the iconic pair. However, McCartney recently announced that he's been able to use AI technology to partner with the late Lennon one more time. He appeared on BBC 4 Radio on June 13, 2023, to explain that he has lifted Lennon's voice from an old demo tape of a song they never got to finish. The same technology was used in Peter Jackson's epic 2021 documentary 'The Beatles: Get Back,' in which cassette recordings of the band working on their final album were made immaculately clear.

McCartney says that he has been able to mix what is truly the final Beatles track, and while he didn't name the song, there's speculation that it could be Lennon's 1978 composition 'Now And Then.' It was one of several songs on a cassette tape labeled "For Paul" that Lennon recorded before his death in 1980.

Many other musicians had collaborations released after their deaths. From Amy Winehouse and Nas to Michael Jackson and 50 Cent, check out these interesting posthumous collaborations.
