On March 23, BTS performed in the US for the first time in four years, at a special event with Spotify. The invitation-only show, called Spotify x BTS: SWIMSIDE, featured a performance and Q&A for 1,000 of the group’s top listeners on the platform.
The event let fans step into the world of 'ARIRANG,' the new album by BTS released on March 20, with an immersive rooftop experience overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and tall ships like the one in their latest music video. The group also played a game called “Normal vs Alien,” named after two of their new songs, before giving fans a short performance despite the cold and rain.
Indeed, the seven-man boy band are based in South Korea, but have taken over the world since their formation in 2013. Singles like 'Dynamite' and 'Butter' have been streamed billions of times, and have sat atop of charts around the world. Their influence goes beyond music, with huge contributions to South Korea's economy and global image.
