Adele burst onto the scene with '19' back in 2008, conquered the world with '21' in 2011, and proved she's an unstoppable force with '25' in 2015. She's one of the world's best-selling music artists, with sales of over 120 million records, which only made it harder to hear nothing but silence from her for the past six years.
But fans of the singer are rejoicing as she's finally posted a clip of new music and announced the forthcoming release of her new album. Adele posted a 21-second black-and-white clip on Twitter, showing her putting a cassette with the song's title, 'Easy On Me,' into a car stereo, followed by an emotional instrumental piano introduction. The tweet said the song will be released on October 15, while her much-anticipated fourth album—rumored to be called '30'—is expected to follow.
But Adele is hardly the first British musical artist to go on such an extended hiatus. In this gallery, look at the major British musicians who took big breaks from music.
