Rod Stewart is facing criticism from some fans after attending a World Cup match just hours after canceling a concert in California due to health issues. On June 13, Stewart shared an Instagram video showing himself traveling by private jet to Boston with his sons, Liam and Alastair, before later appearing in the stands to celebrate Scotland’s victory over Haiti.
The appearance came less than a day after Stewart’s team announced that he was unable to perform in Chula Vista following a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection that resulted in laryngitis. While the singer said he was feeling physically better after treatment, he acknowledged that his voice had not recovered enough for the show.
Some fans questioned the decision to travel so soon after the cancellation, with one commenting on social media: “Too ill to perform but okay to fly across the country for soccer?”
