In 2013, a terrible car accident killed Zumyah Thorpe's pregnant mother and her two sisters, and left her in a coma. The nurses at the hospital played her Bruno Mars songs every night, until she eventually responded.

Five-year-old Claudia Dealwis fell off a balcony at a friend's house and fractured her skull. She was in a coma for 10 days, when something incredible happened.

In 2005, nine-year-old Corey George from Wales was hit by a car and fell into a coma. He had been unresponsive for two weeks, until his mom decided to play him his favorite record: Green Day's 'American Idiot.'

In less than one hour, the boy started moving his fingers and toes, and he opened his eyes. Four days later, he was out of intensive care.

Roy Orbison - 'Crying' -

In 2012, the Bee Gees' Robin Gibb fell into a coma following a battle with pneumonia. Gibb had previously battled cancer, so his immune system was very debilitated. Gibb's wife played him Roy Orbison's 'Crying' and her husband actually started to cry.

But it wasn't until Gibb's son, Robin-John, played him 'Don’t Cry Alone,' a song that both father and son had collaborated on, that he woke up from the coma.

The memory of buying The Rolling Stones' 'Satisfaction' single back in 1965 got 60-year-old Sam Carter out of a coma over 40 years later.

Carter's wife played him the song, and the rest is history. "I could remember how excited I was to get it down at the record shop. I suddenly had a burst of energy and knew I had a lot more life left in me and that's when I woke up—to the sound of the first song I ever bought," Sam Carter recalled.

It had been eight days since six-year-old Tyla was placed in a medically-induced coma following a car crash, when Jessie J visited the hospital.

When she learned about the visit, Tyla's mom contacted the singer's management, and Jessie J was happy to sing Tyla her favorite song, 'Rainbow.' The little girl regained consciousness just a few hours later.

A car accident landed 22-year-old David Hassall in a coma. His parents decided to play him some Bon Jovi while he was unconscious.

Maria Neal from the UK fell into a coma following a brain hemorrhage. She had been unresponsive for months, until her husband played her their wedding song: The Righteous Brothers'  'Unchained Melody.'

Maria's husband hit the jackpot. "When I actually got a response and I asked her, 'Do you know what this is?' and she nodded yes, it was absolutely fantastic," he recalled.

Psy - 'Gangnam Style' -

Ten-year-old Ying Nan from China suffered a brain hemorrhage that resulted in 258 days in a coma. Then her mother played her a song she used to love: Psy's 'Gangnam Style.'

Ying Nan started humming to the song, so her mom played it again the following day. It worked. The song, which is also known in China as the 'Horse Riding Dance,' revived Ying Nan.

Christiane Kittel was just 16 when a blood clot in her lung made her fall into a coma. She had been in a coma for six years when her mother got permission from the doctor to take her to a Bryan Adams concert.

Robbie Williams - 'Angels' -

An Austrian woman called Kerstin Fritzl was imprisoned in a basement by her father/grandfather, who had seven children with Kerstin's mom/sister. Kerstin fell ill in 2008 and taken to hospital, where she was put in a medically-induced coma.

Kerstin was revived from the coma with the Robbie Williams song 'Angels.' And, equally important, the man responsible for holding her family captive and abusing them was sentenced to life in prison.

In 2013, Cheryl Horton-Powell suffered from cardiac arrest. Her heart actually stopped for 10 minutes, and she was placed in a medically-induced coma. Her chances of survival were not great, but her family thought that a bit of music would help.

They placed headphones on her and played her Si Cranstoun's 'Dynamo,' which was one of her favorite tunes. Shortly after, she was tapping her feet. "I was brought up with rockabilly music and that is what I've always loved, so I think it sparked something in my brain from childhood," Cheryl recalled.

Seventeen-year-old Jarrett Carland was four months in a coma, following a car crash that killed his best friend and seriously injured another passenger. Jarrett was unresponsive, until his mother played him a song that he constantly listened to: 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' by The Charlie Daniels Band.

It took a few plays but it eventually worked and Jarrett Carland got out of the coma. Nearly a year later, he had the opportunity to personally thank Charlie Daniels.

In 2012, marketing executive John Flynn fell into coma due to internal bleeding following three heart bypasses in 24 hours. After six days completely unresponsive, one of his sons played him a few songs from his iPod, including songs from the musical 'Mack & Mabel.'

That was all John Flynn needed to hear. "My feet started moving—I was tap dancing on the end of the bed. Then my hand started going. Whatever it was, I woke up after six days. I was out of hospital three weeks later," he recalled.
