Every year, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) comes together to decide which other of the world’s sites deserve to be classified under its World Heritage program. These places are considered so important that protecting them is of the utmost concern to humanity as a whole.
In July 2026, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee gathered in Busan, South Korea, and inscribed 25 new properties to the list. These places are thought to be of exceptional cultural or natural value that should be passed down to future generations.
