Over the nights of November 11 and 12, breathtaking displays of the northern lights were visible across Canada, several US states, parts of Europe, and even as far south as Mexico and northern China.
The phenomenon occurred as a result of a strong geomagnetic storm that caused Earth’s magnetic field to compress, allowing the auroras to appear and continue well into the night.
Forecasts suggest that the lights may be visible on the night of this November 13 as well.
Indeed, the aurora borealis is a stunning natural phenomenon that captivates anyone lucky enough to witness it. While science explains it as the result of sun particles colliding with the Earth's atmosphere, Icelanders believe the magical lights are angels dancing in the sky!
