So, where is it? - Tateyama Kurobe is a route that winds through the Toyama and Nagano provinces in Japan.

Length - The trail extends for 90 km, as reported by CNN. One of the most famous sections is the Snow Wall Walk.

Starting point - Let's start in Toyama, a great place for skiers and snowboarders.

Toyama - From Toyama, catch a train to Tateyama Station, which sits at an altitude of 475 m.

Tateyama Station - At Tateyama Station you can already feel the mountainous Alpine climate. Take a minute to enjoy the view and hop on a cable car to the next stop!

Bijodaira - At an estimated 900 m, we arrive at a perfect place for hiking: Bijodaira.

Midagahara: next stop - But our trip along the Tateyama Kurobe route continues. Leaving Bijodaira, the next stop is the Midagahara plateau.

Midagahara: view - From high atop Midagahara you have a stunning view of mountains including Tenguyama Mountain.

Midagahara: tip - Before travelling, check if Midagahara will be open. This section often closes due to excess snow.

Murodo: next stop - At Murodo, you are at one of the most gorgeous stops in the Japanese Alps.

Murodo: views - This is the highest point on the trail and you can appreciate the incredible Mikurigaike hot springs.

Kurobe Dam - Kurobe Dam is another highlight of the trip! It's the highest dam in the country.
