Suvla Bay, Turkey - During World War I, a bizarre event took place in Suvla Bay, on the Aegean coast of the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey. When a strange cloud enveloped a hillside, a whole battalion of English soldiers marched into it—only to disappear. The Turks had no record of these soldiers being captured.

The dwellings were then left to abandonment, and although the most reasonable reason is that the residents returned to their nomadic lifestyles, it still hasn't been explained why they would leave their permanent homes.
