São Paulo is the most populated city in Brazil, which may be due to its mild temperatures that vary between 22 and 28ºC (71-82ºF) throughout the year.

Death Valley, USA -

California's Death Valley is by far the driest place in the United States.

While scorching temperatures can reach 47ºC (116ºF) in summer months, the highest temperature ever recorded there was in 1913, when it reached 56.7ºC (134ºF).

Kuwait City, Kuwait -

Despite its staggering heat, Kuwait City is home to over two million people. 

The average temperature in the city ranges between 21 and 41ºC (70-106ºF), according to NOAA. However, a heat wave can reportedly take temperatures over the 50ºC (122ºF) mark.

Dallol, Ethiopia -

If you Google the hottest places in the world, Dallol is usually pretty high on the list. 

The town's surroundings go as low as 100 meters below sea level, areas that are often covered in yellow sulfur fields and craters, which were the remains of a volcanic explosion in 1926. 

Dallol holds the highest record ever for the hottest annual average temperature, at 34.4ºC (94ºF).

Mombasa, Kenya -

In Mombasa the month of December (average of 27.4ºC/81.3ºF) is warmer than June (average of 24.8ºC/76.6ºF). That said, the city has a warm climate throughout the year.

Viña del Mar, Chile -

Chile's coastal resort town of Viña del Mar boasts of endless soft sand beaches and gorgeous gardens, and is often dubbed as "La Ciudad Jardín" ("The Garden City"). 

The city's mild temperatures vary between 20 and 24ºC (68-75ºF) in summer and between 10 and 15ºC (50-59ºF) during the winter months.

Yuma, USA -

We're now stepping into the hottest places in the world, which includes the city of Yuma in Arizona.

Yuma is found near Arizona's border with California and Mexico, and according to Traveller, the city gets 4,015 hours of sunshine a year and has temperatures soaring up to 42ºC (107ºF).

The oasis and Berber town of Ghadames in northwest Libya is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Often referred to as “the pearl of the desert,” Ghadames enjoys temperatures as high as 40ºC (104ºF).

Oodnadatta is a remote town located in the arid Australian outback that enjoys 10 hours of sunlight per day in December, according to Northeast Magazine.

The town's record heat was in 1960 when it reached over 50ºC (122ºF).

Kebili, Tunisia -

The desert town of Kebili is best known for its cultivation of dates. Secondly, the Kebili is known for its sweltering heat that easily exceeds 40ºC (104ºF) in summer.

The town's highest-ever recorded temperature was 55ºC (131ºF).

Iran is home to desert cities that have long periods of dry, hot, and stormy climate.

One of them is Ahvaz, a city with heat that has surpassed the 50ºC (122ºF) mark in previous years.

Dasht-e Loot, Iran - The salt desert of Dasht-e Loot, also referred to as the Lut Desert, has the hottest ground temperatures ever recorded. According to The Guardian, temperatures recorded between 2003 and 2009 proved that the ground reached as high as 70.7ºC (159.3ºF). That's hot!

On the southern border of the Sahara desert you will find Mali's ancient city of Timbuktu.

The average yearly temperatures ranges from 29 to 42ºC (84-107ºF), with June being its hottest month.

Wadi Halfa, Sudan -

Wadi Halfa experiences no rain during winter, which only adds to the already sweltering heat of the city.

Although the city's temperatures can range anywhere between 24 and 42ºC (84-107ºF) throughout the year, the average temperature is around 35ºC (95ºF) according to NOAA.

Swakopmund, Namibia -

If after the warmest we were to count also the driest places in the world, Namibia's city of Swakopmund is high on the list.

The resort town receives just over half an inch (25.4 millimeters) of rain every year, which is basically nothing! It also enjoys mild temperatures throughout the year.
