On June 24, 26-year-old Brazilian tourist Juliana Marins was found dead. She had been climbing Mount Rinjani volcano, situated on the Indonesian island of Lombok, and fell hundreds of meters (almost 2,000 feet) from the ridge. It is believed that the hiker was trapped there for almost four days before her body was discovered by authorities.
An Indonesian rescue team found Marins beside a crater, stating that the search was made more difficult by weather conditions and the volcano’s harsh terrain.
