Bark Air's first luxury flight for dogs takes off!
One-way tickets cost a pretty penny, but can you put a price tag on your dog's comfort?
©
Shutterstock

Bark Air, a luxury airline for dogs (and their owners), has made its first flight. The inaugural trip took place on Thursday, May 23, between New York and Los Angeles, and was documented by the company on Instagram.
"At this moment, at an altitude of 30,000 feet, there is a flight full of dogs," revealed Bark Air at the time, adding that on these flights, "dogs are the main priority."
The tickets were sold out, according to Bark's booking site, which states that the experience was launched to make long-distance travel more comfortable for dogs that usually do not fit under the seats on commercial airplanes.
"Often, dogs are prevented from traveling, confined to a backpack, or have to endure the stress of traveling in the cargo hold," said the company when it announced the flights last April. The luxury flying experience reportedly costs upwards of US$6,000 for a one-way ticket for the four-legged passenger and their owner.
