Europe could begin experiencing flight disruptions as jet fuel supplies tighten, with the International Energy Agency (IEA) warning this April 16 that the continent may have only “around six weeks” of fuel left if current conditions persist. The shortage is linked to blocked energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global supply route.
The crisis, described by IEA Chief Fatih Birol as one of the most severe ever, is already increasing fuel and energy prices worldwide. Countries in Asia that rely heavily on Middle Eastern supplies are expected to feel the impact first (some are already experiencing it), followed by Europe and other regions.
Despite the uncertain situation, with the right tools and knowledge, you can try to minimize the impact on your travel plans.
