What makes a city cool and interesting? -

Cool cities are those with a notable global influence, interesting and historical landmarks, and a presence on social media, particularly the number of Instagram posts featuring the city. Other cool elements include the number of breweries and startups.

Methodology -

The methodology used to identify the coolest cities involved analyzing 50 of the largest cities across the US and Canada, using eight overarching categories such as lifestyle and recreation. The analysis was broken down into 19 metrics that were weighted and scored on a 100-point scale.

25. Las Vegas, NV -

Las Vegas has an overall score of 24.46. Starting our list is Las Vegas, where if you can dream it, it can probably happen. Bustling city life is what you'll find here, with Michelin-star restaurants, theme parks, and much more.

24. Edmonton, Canada -

Edmonton has an overall score of 24.97. There is no shortage of cool in Edmonton. Here, you'll find a dynamic city where things are done a bit differently. From encountering free-roaming bison to malls that span 48 city blocks, Edmonton takes a new approach to "cool."

23. Indianapolis, IN -

Indianapolis has an overall score of 25.00. Sports are booming in Indianapolis! From the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to teams like the Pacers and Colts, this city definitely fills its cool quota.
