Forbes published a ranking of the most expensive cities to own a dog in the US. The list takes into account the cities' median household income and annual expenses incurred with vet care, pet insurance, boarding, and day care.
Veterinary expenses include the cost of two office visits, a number of vaccines, and a professional dental cleaning. Pet insurance expenses include the average annual premium for a two-year-old mixed medium breed dog with unlimited coverage. Dog boarding expenses include the cost of boarding a dog for seven days. As for day care expenses, it considers the cost of taking a dog to day care twice a week for 48 weeks.
