The United Nations has recently named new destinations to its prestigious list of Best Tourism Villages for 2025, expanding its global network to 319 recognized communities since the initiative started in 2021. This program is specifically designed to honor villages that successfully protect their valuable natural resources and deep cultural heritage.
While the tourism spotlight is on major cities, some of the most memorable travel experiences are far from crowded areas, often in peaceful mountain towns, island hamlets, and forested regions where authentic rural life thrives.
