As the one year anniversary of his death approaches, Val Kilmer has been brought back using AI for the upcoming movie, ‘As Deep as the Grave.’ Director Coerte Voorhees said the decision was “controversial,” but explained that the role was always meant for Kilmer, “He was the actor I wanted to play this role.” The filmmaker has the support of Kilmer’s estate and his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer.
Coerte Voorhees said Val Kilmer was originally set to film his scenes when production started in 2020, but he was dealing with serious health problems and couldn’t take part. Kilmer, who died from pneumonia at 65 on April 1, 2025, battled throat cancer for the last decade of his life.
