▲Whitney responded in his book, 'GIT-R-DONE,' defending his new style of comedy. Cross replied in an open letter, calling Larry's audience "simple."
▲Rivers went to Howard Stern the very next day. She called Handler "ordinary," "not a genius," and a "whore."
▲Cosby was very popular on TV, but Murphy's impersonation had smeared his reputation. He responded to Murphy by calling him "a very nasty, nasty liar."
▲Apparently, Joan Rivers (left) slandered Chelsea Handler (right) at a public event. "Joan Rivers? What the f*** do I care about Joan Rivers?" she asked Howard Stern back in 2012, as a response.
▲In the world of comedy, not everyone can get along. In fact, it's a pretty competitive industry, with comics coming up together, only to turn into bitter rivals. There's been many comedy feuds over the years, ranging from petty put-downs to physical fights. Click on to explore the most intense comedian rivalries.
▲'Saturday Night Live' hit TV screens back in 1975, and Chevy Chase (right) was one of the show's most popular stars. However, he left after the first season, and Bill Murray (left) was summoned to replace him.
▲Murphy (right) was massive back in the late '80s, hot off the success of his film, 'Eddie Murphy Raw.' The show featured an impersonation of Bill Cosby (left).
▲Larry the Cable Guy is the stage name of Dan Whitney (right), who was profiled for Rolling Stone in 2005. David Cross (left) was interviewed for the piece, and he slandered Whitney's persona and sense of humor.
▲"He seems gay [...] I've never seen… a guy who's not gay seem so gay," MacDonald sneered. Kattan replied by calling Norm an "asshole."
▲Chase returned to guest-host next season, and things got pretty tense. "I'm sure Billy wanted to take me down," Chase said in the book 'Live from the New York,' in which he also described a "fistfight that never really came to fruition."
▲Lovitz reasoned that Dick gave cocaine to Brynn, who was a recovering addict. Dick apparently threatened Lovitz, and the two got into a physical altercation.
▲C.K. acknowledged the allegations in a 2010 interview, saying he "didn't like" Cook and that the comedian "bummed me out aesthetically." Cook replied on the 'WTF with Marc Maron' podcast, saying he "didn't steal anything." C.K. invited Cook on his show, 'Louie,' and the two made light of the feud.
▲Rogan was banned from the venue, and Mencia addressed the issue on 'WTF.' "I never had beef with him, he had beef with me," he shrugged.
▲Hicks joked about the accusations, saying that he "stole his act" in 1993. Separately, C.K. called Leary a "talentless c***," and that he "stole" from him too.
▲Chase vs. Murray was a big feud, but MacDonald (left) vs. Kattan (right) is maybe the most infamous 'SNL' rivalry. MacDonald started with homophobic comments in a Rolling Stone profile.
▲Back in 1998, comedian Phil Hartman was killed by his wife Brynn in a murder/suicide. He had previously worked with both Dick (right) and Lovitz (left), and the latter apparently blamed Dick for Hartman's death.
▲Dane Cook (right) was a star during the 2000s, but he was also dogged with claims of plagiarism. It was alleged that Cook took bits from Louis C.K. (left) for his live sets.
▲

Denis Leary (center) has had his fair share of feuds. He rose to fame with Bill Hicks (right), and the two were even friends. However, Leary was accused of copying Hicks's style.

▲Back in 2005, Joe Rogan (left) accused Carlos Mencia (right) of plagiarism. Two years later, he confronted Mencia on stage, and uploaded the footage to YouTube.
▲Clay (right) and Kinison (left) were on top of the comedy circuit in the early '90s. They were also bitter rivals, with Kinison calling out Clay in interviews with Howard Stern.
▲Clay responded by saying Kinison had a "black heart," and that he was a "horrible person," in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
▲Leno and Letterman had a long-running feud, which was documented in the book 'The Late Shift,' which was later adapted into a movie.
▲Harvey responded in an interview with Frankie Darcell, saying that he had "nothing to do with" it. "You wanna sell a ticket like that? Knock yourself out," he said.
▲Stern returned fire by implying that Foxx was a closeted homosexual. However, the two have since made amends.
▲Barr responded in bold fashion, calling Hall a "black nerd." However, the two were able to talk it out on Arsenio Hall's show.
▲During one sketch, Kaufman broke character, saying he felt stupid for doing the sketch. Richards responded by throwing cue cards on Kaufman's lap, getting a face full of water in return. The laughing audience were unsure if the physical altercation was genuine or not.
▲Williams (left) apparently started this little feud, when he accused Harvey (right) of snubbing him in Los Angeles. Katt went on to clown Steve Harvey during a performance on New Year's Eve.
▲Howard Stern (left) doesn't mince his words, and was blunt when slandering Gabourey Sidibe on-air. Jamie Foxx (right) wasn't having it, and fired back at Stern's cohost, Robin Quivers.
▲This apparently started when Hall (right) started cracking jokes about Barr (left) and her husband, mocking them for their weight.
▲These late night legends had a problem with each other, and Letterman (left) was not happy when Leno (right) replaced Johnny Carson on 'The Tonight Show.'
▲Andy Kaufman (left) was an extremist comedian, one who pushed the limits of conceptual comedy. He made some rare appearances during the '80s, showing up on the sketch show 'Fridays,'
