Conflict

Hours following Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, Israel began airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. Just 20 days later, Israel began its destructive ground invasion. The war on Gaza has continued for almost two years, producing one of the most devastating humanitarian crises in history and requiring almost two million residents to flee constant bombardment.

On October 3, 2025, Hamas and Israel agreed on a ceasefire, which, while it did not stop hostilities completely, is still in place.

Hamas’ attack killed around 1,200 people and took about 250 individuals hostage, while Israel’s military response has killed more than 68,000 Palestinians.
