Acne affects a large number of people around the world, and celebrities are no exception. It's easy to believe otherwise, when we see pictures of our favorite stars with their flawless, glowing skin. But many of us don't often think about the fact that their beautiful skin is also the result of good makeup and Photoshop.
'WandaVision' actress Kathryn Hahn spoke to People for their 2021 "Beautiful Issue" and opened up about when she didn't feel so beautiful. It was after her "goth period," when she had piled on so much foundation that "you needed a sandblaster to take it off," when she had developed cystic acne. She would struggle to cover it up with tons of makeup on top of the blemishes, and that lasted right up until her 40s, at which point she adopted a diligent skincare routine and her acne started to clear up.
“Acne really does something to your self-esteem, especially when you’re on camera,” Hahn shared. “Once that started clearing up, I definitely felt more comfortable not wearing makeup.” Now, she says, she's wearing less and less the older she gets.
Many stars suffer from acne and other skin conditions. Some are pretty vocal about it, while others don't address the issue, but they all have something in common—acne has affected their lives.
