We’ve heard countless stories of celebrities filing restraining orders against their creepy stalkers, but we haven’t heard too much about the stars who've had restraining orders filed against them.
The world of the rich and famous is predictably filled with drama and scandal, but beyond the salacious gossip there are real legal actions being taken—actions which can permanently taint reputations and end careers.
Sean Avery, 'Oppenheimer' actor and former NHL star, is under restraining order filed by his ex-wife Hilary Rhoda and will remain under the order, a court has ruled. Rhoda, a model, filed for divorce from Avery in July 2022, ET reports, and was first granted the restraining order in October. The order, which prevents the actor from coming in contact with her and their nearly three-year-old son, will remain in effect until the next hearing in their court case, which is scheduled for September 11.
In the 2022 court docs, obtained by ET, Rhoda accused her husband of both domestic and child abuse, detailing an alleged September 2022 incident when he was arrested for domestic battery after he entered her house though she asked him not not, climbed into bed with her and wouldn't leave, then "grabbed me by the arms and shook me, twice." She claimed that he'd been walking past her house "several times a day" and feels "threatened by this behavior and his acts of physical violence." In addition to yelling and engaging in instances of physical abuse, Rhoda alleges that Avery has also been "physically and emotionally abusive to our son, Nash," claiming that he once punched the wall in his son's room after the toddler woke up sick in the middle of the night, and in another incident "body slammed Nash on his changing table." This in addition to also allegedly screaming at the child, not putting him in his car seat and driving erratically right after smoking marijuana, and more. When she filed for divorce, Rhoda alleged that Avery "admitted to me he was addicted to oxycontin, and he blamed his addiction as the reason for all of his 'bad behavior,'" which may check out since Avery was previously arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance in 2015.
