American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has confirmed he now holds Italian citizenship. Speaking on ‘The Sarah Silverman Podcast’ on August 12, Kimmel revealed he obtained it this year after proving his ancestral lineage, a fact also reported by Italian news agency ANSA.
Kimmel, a longtime critic of President Donald Trump, made the announcement after Trump suggested his late-night show could be “next” for cancellation following CBS’ decision to end Stephen Colbert’s program. The ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ host is known for his pointed jokes about Trump, both on-air and at the Oscars, where their feud has played out publicly.
Kimmel noted that other American celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell, have also sought dual citizenship amid political tensions in the US.
Many celebrities hold dual citizenship, whether through relocation, family heritage, or other personal reasons. Click through this gallery to discover more stars with multiple passports.
