CELEBRITY Show business
When she's not acting, Reese Witherspoon is the boss of Hello Sunshine, a media company she co-founded in 2016 on the back of her production company Pacific Standard, which was established in 2012. The company saw successes with productions like 'Gone Girl' (2014), and the series 'Big Little Lies,' 'Little Fires Everywhere,' and 'The Morning Show.' Now, the actress has sold the company to Blackstone for a whopping US$900 million.
"Today marks a tremendous moment for Hello Sunshine," the actress said in a press release. "I started this company to change the way all women are seen in media. Over the past few years, we have watched our mission thrive through books, TV, film and social platforms." She will join the new media company's board and remain involved in its day-to-day functioning, but she hopes this sale "will enable us to tell even more entertaining, impactful and illuminating stories about women's lives globally," she said.
Producers are those who green light projects and subsequently coordinate, supervise, and manage the creation and production of movies and television shows. Powerful and influential, these individuals also arrange financing, organize logistics, hire writers, directors, and key members of the creative team. It's an incredible responsibility, and not for everyone. Except that there are some Hollywood stars who positively excel at taking on the extra burden of film production, either as part of their own projects or overseeing those of others.
