The couple decided to keep with the royal family tradition and shared the candid photo they chose for the annual holiday card, which features Camilla looking lovingly at her husband. In 2023, Charles and Camilla released their second Christmas card as King and Queen. The photo they chose for their card is a portrait taken at their coronation, which took place on May 6. The pair are posed in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace in their full ceremonial robes and crowns.

As usual, the Prince and Princess of Wales took an informal approach to their family card. This year's portrait, shot in black and white, shows the family casually dressed in jeans and white shirts. A perfectly tasteful and pleasant family portrait, the image has nonetheless received a strong reaction online due to one strange detail. Prince Louis' hand rests on the arm of the chair with his fingers spread in the middle, almost like he's giving the Vulcan salute from Star Trek. The odd angle of the camera makes it look like there's a gap where his middle finger should be. Social media has been abuzz with theories, with many suggesting that this is a poor Photoshop job. This sparked further investigation, and some observers noted that Louis' legs don't look natural, Prince Williams' left thigh is missing, and Kate only has one foot. Somebody isn't getting rehired for the 2024 photoshoot!

The tradition of issuing an official Christmas card and photo goes back many years. While the British royal family has indeed done it for many decades, other royal families have also published official Christmas cards.
