Actors often face tough choices in Hollywood—roles that could make or break a career, or, in some cases, ones they end up regretting for life. For Channing Tatum, that moment came when he turned down the chance to star in Guillermo del Toro’s unrealized version of 'Beauty and the Beast.'

In an interview with Vanity Fair published on September 9, Tatum revealed that the acclaimed director personally wanted him for the role of the Beast, calling it “one of the biggest mistakes of my career.” At the time, however, the actor said he was overwhelmed—he had just become a father, was already locked into another grueling project, and felt the script wasn’t fully ready.

Of course, he’s not the only actor to walk away from an iconic role. Whether due to scheduling conflicts or doubts about a script, Hollywood is full of stories of stars who turned down parts in movies that went on to become massive box-office hits.
