Chuck Mangione, the acclaimed jazz musician behind the 1978 hit ‘Feels So Good’, has died at the age of 84. Known for his signature flugelhorn sound and crossover appeal, Mangione rose to fame in the 1960s with Art Blakey’s band before forming the Jazz Brothers with his sibling Gap.

His breakthrough came with ‘Feels So Good’, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned him a Grammy nomination. The tune became emblematic of Mangione’s smooth jazz-pop style and made him a household name.

According to Metro, a notice from a Rochester funeral home confirmed the musician died peacefully in his sleep at home on July 22. Fans and musicians have since shared tributes to his lasting influence on American jazz.
