Jane Goodall, the pioneering conservationist and primatologist whose groundbreaking research transformed the world’s understanding of chimpanzees and animal behavior, has died at 91, her institute announced on October 1. She passed away of natural causes in California while on a US speaking tour.

Goodall’s decades-long fieldwork not only redefined the study of primates but also challenged conventional science by documenting emotions, social bonds, and personalities in chimpanzees. Beyond her scientific achievements, she became a global advocate for conservation and environmental protection, with the United Nations and countless admirers paying tribute to her extraordinary legacy
