HEALTH Ketogenic diet

For anyone who hasn't been on food blogs recently, the Ketogenic Diet, or just Keto, is becoming increasingly popular. The parameters of the program are relatively simple—high-fat, moderate-protein, and low-carb. But according to the new Netflix documentary 'The Magic Pill,' the health benefits of going Keto could be tremendous.

The documentary goes as far as to claim that the Keto diet has the capability of curing cancer, obesity, and liver disease, improving symptoms of autism and diabetes, and reducing dependence on prescription drugs in as little as five weeks, according to a review from Shape Magazine.

The film follows families in the US as well as those in Australia. The subjects completely give up processed foods and grains, stay away from dairy, embrace fats such as coconut oil, animal fat, eggs, and avocados, and include fermented foods. However there is a controversial aspect of the film, as they recommend intermittent fasting.

'The Magic Pill' is available for streaming on Netflix. You can watch the trailer for the film here.
