Contamination

Aldi has issued major food recalls in 37 US states due to risks tied to undeclared allergens and potential contamination, urging customers to immediately discard or return several affected products. The grocery chain also pulled items from shelves to protect consumer health.

The recalled products include Welby Vitamin B12, which contained an undeclared peanut allergen; Casa Mamita Churro Bites, which failed to list milk as an ingredient; and Santa Monica Seafood Atlantic Salmon Portions, in which undeclared soy was detected. Also recalled were Park Street Deli Pork Carnitas and Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos due to possible metal contamination.

Shoppers are encouraged to return recalled items for a full refund, and those experiencing illness or allergic reactions should seek medical attention and report incidents to the FDA’s MedWatch program.

Grocery store trips used to be relatively simple: you'd buy your basics, maybe a treat or two, and then head home. Popular brands and everyday products are finding themselves implicated in a surge in foodborne illnesses caused by invisible pathogens that can lead to serious consequences. As more and more food items are being removed from shelves, a pattern of risk is emerging that touches nearly everyone. But why the sudden surge?
