A deadly listeria outbreak has triggered one of the largest food recalls of the year, with nearly 245,000 pounds (111,130 kilograms) of ready-to-eat pasta products pulled from major retailers across the US, including Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and Kroger.
According to an October 9 notice from the FDA, products made by Nate’s Fine Foods tested positive for the outbreak strain of listeria monocytogenes. The recall spans multiple pasta types distributed nationwide and linked to at least 20 confirmed infections, four deaths, and one fetal loss across 15 states. Health officials are urging consumers to check their refrigerators and discard affected items immediately.
