More than 1,000 pounds (480 kilos) of frozen ground beef are being recalled after a consumer found metal fragments in the product, according to a July 29 alert from the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The beef, produced by Ada Valley Meat Company, was packaged in late May and distributed to five US states.

While no injuries have been reported, FSIS is urging consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers, warning that some of the contaminated product may still be in circulation. The affected beef was shipped to California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania and is labeled as “Ada Valley fully cooked ground beef,” sold in 20-pound (nine-kilo) cases with specific lot codes and packing dates of May 28 and May 30, 2025. Products carry the establishment code "EST. 10031" inside the USDA inspection mark.

Consumers in possession of the recalled meat are advised to dispose of it or return it to the point of purchase.
