Ladies, if you live in the American state of Vermont and are having matrimonial problems, getting new teeth is definitely not the answer. Wives need written permission from their husbands to wear false teeth.

Wet wedding? No problem -

In England and Wales, couples must get married in a fixed structure with a roof. You will have to go somewhere else if you want an outdoor wedding.

Leave your ex some food and yarn -

An old law in the American state of Tennessee says that a husband may divorce his wife if he leaves her a certain amount of dried beans, dried apples, meat, and enough yarn to knit stockings for a year.

A special day - According to The Express Tribune, in Samoa, a wife can file for divorce if her husband forgets her birthday. Married men are probably very fond of calendars in the country.

Don’t you dare in Delaware -

Couples getting married as a jest or dare in this American state can see their marriage annulled.

No divorce allowed - Marriage in the Philippines is taken very, very seriously. Divorces are not allowed by law. Annulment may be considered, but it is by no means an easy thing to do in this country.

Nothing casual about it -

Up until 1939, a Scottish woman could legally require a man to marry her if they slept together. There was nothing casual about casual sex back then.

No Sunday fights in Colorado, USA -

If you are going to argue with your wife, make sure you don't do it on a Sunday or you might end up in jail. The law doesn't mention any other days of the week though...

Everyone has to know - In Monaco, you have to put up a note on the town hall announcing your marriage. Couples are legally obliged to display the announcement for ten days, including two Sundays.

Husbands in the American state of Utah are responsible for their wives’ actions, as long as they are with them during those actions.

Sweet (interracial) home, Alabama -

Until 2000, interracial couples could not get married in the American state of Alabama.

Kansas in-laws -

You better get along with your mother-in-law if you live in the state of Kansas in the US. Otherwise your significant other can file for divorce on those grounds.

You must have a reason -

No-fault divorce is not allowed in England. An unhappy marriage is not grounds for divorce in the country. If you want to file for divorce, you have to do so on the basis of adultery or unreasonable behavior, for instance.

What about the kids? -

Child custody law in Japan is quite complex. Apparently, there is no such thing as joint custody when couples get divorced. Legal battles between estranged couples can turn into nightmares.

If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it - Men must be careful when trying to seduce a woman in South Carolina. They could be charged for misleading the woman with a promise of marriage.

Cooling off period -

Up until 2016, women in Japan had to wait at least 100 days before they could remarry. Now, they must only wait the 100 days if they're pregnant. Men, on the other hand, can get another wife straight away after getting divorced.

Psychics and palm readers alike can't perform marriages in New Orleans, Louisiana (US). They also apparently can't reveal any secrets either!

Just get another husband - Traditional Aboriginal women in Australia can end their current marriage by moving out! Apparently the end of a marriage is signified by the end of cohabitation.

Going nuts -

You might stand a chance of getting a divorce in New York if you are able to prove that your partner has gone crazy, or has been crazy for at least five years.

What the Quran says - Under Islamic law, a divorced couple can only remarry if the woman marries someone else, and then divorces that person. Basically, the woman has to marry and divorce again if she wants to remarry her ex-husband.

Three times lucky -

In the American state of Kentucky you can only marry the same person three times. So forget about your fourth wedding with your ex. Though if you really, really want to get married to the same person for the fourth time, just move to a different state.
