It's difficult to reach adulthood and not have a perception of what it means to be drunk. Whether you drink or not, it's clear that alcohol impacts a person's behavior, whether they become considerably less inhibited or even more aggressive when drunk.
This is strange, however, since the active ingredient in alcohol (ethanol) is actually a depressant. Enter the 'expectation effect,' the idea that our drunken behavior is to a large extent dictated by how we expect we'll behave.
