Certain years in history have been more eventful than others. For example, did you know that vitamins were discovered and Oreos were first produced the same year that the Titanic sank? These things don't necessarily have any connection other than the fact that they occurred in the same year, but in some cases, the seemingly random selection of events is indicative of a period of innovation or conflict in human history.
