Ten people were killed and at least 61 injured on the morning of September 9 when a freight train collided with a double-decker passenger bus in Atlacomulco, an industrial municipality about two hours northwest of Mexico City. The train operator said the bus had attempted to cross the tracks ahead of the moving train.
Footage circulating on social media showed the bus stuck in traffic before moving onto the tracks, where the train struck its right side. This is one of the deadliest transport accidents to hit the region in recent years.
Road accidents have claimed the lives of many people throughout history. Some accidents are, however, more horrific than others—and some a lot more deadly, too.
