China unveiled its latest advanced weapons during a huge military parade in Tiananmen Square this September 3, part of commemorations marking the end of World War II.
Presiding over the show of force, President Xi Jinping declared China’s rise as “unstoppable.” The event featured more than 10,000 troops and hundreds of new weapons, highlighting Beijing’s drive to modernize the world’s largest standing army.
Russia’s Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un stood alongside Xi in their first joint public appearance, in what analysts see as a defiant challenge to the US-led global order. President Donald Trump accused the three leaders of “conspiring against the US.”
