US President Donald Trump has warned that the US could strike Iran’s nuclear sites again if deemed necessary. The announcement was made on July 21 through a post on Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.

The post came after Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Fox News that the uranium enrichment program had been interrupted because of severe damage. However, the program would not stop permanently, calling it a question of “national pride.”

The damage was inflicted during the US strikes on June 22, which hit three Iranian nuclear enrichment sites and ended the so‑called Twelve Days War between Iran and Israel. Currently, Iranian diplomats are planning talks with the European Union about the future of the country’s nuclear program.

This exchange is just the latest in a long history of tension between Iran and the US, which predates the countries’ current leaders and is deeply rooted in decades of political and economic events.
