Five members of the local Mexican band Grupo Fugitivo were found murdered after disappearing in Reynosa, a city close to the US border, authorities confirmed. The musicians were reportedly kidnapped on May 25 while en route to perform at a private event. Their families later received ransom demands.
Authorities have arrested nine suspected members of the Gulf Cartel in connection with the killings. The victims, aged between 20 and 40, were known for performing at community parties and dances.
Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the attack.
