McDonald's Japan said on August 21 that its "Happy Set" meal promotion in collaboration with the popular manga title 'One Piece' has been postponed. The announcement comes after complaints about a previous Pokémon giveaway, which led to bulk-buying and food being dumped, while cards were being sold online by adults for profit.

"Happy Set" meals and their toys are targeted for children, but recent manga-related collaborations have attracted adults, both fans and resellers, which led McDonald's to pledge to take steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

McDonald’s popularity began with a dream and determined individuals. Before it became the world’s largest restaurant chain by revenue, it was just a humble barbecue drive-thru run by two brothers, unaware they were laying the foundation for a global fast food empire.

From those modest beginnings, the Golden Arches evolved into a symbol of innovation, ambition, and growth, proving that small, family-born ideas can lead to monumental success. In many ways, the story of McDonald’s is the story of the American Dream itself.

So, how did a simple drive-thru become a worldwide phenomenon? Click on to find out.
