Humidity is a measure of the amount of water vapor in the air.
Whether too high or too low, humidity levels can affect everything from our respiratory systems to the structural integrity of our homes. High humidity, however, is a particularly uncomfortable phenomenon. Levels of humidity at around 70% can feel as if the air is pressing against your skin. Any higher and it makes people sweaty and clammy and unable to cool down. But here's the anomaly: it doesn't have to be hot to be humid.
Based on data gathered from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US-based Today's Homeowner has compiled a list of the 30 most humid cities in America. Some of those listed will perhaps come as no surprise, places located in the Deep South, for example. But there are also one or two surprise destinations, including cities more associated with cold weather.
