'Fast and Furious': looking back at the thrilling journey
'Fast X,' hits theaters on May 19 for one last maximalist adventure
©
BrunoPress

Something no one saw coming: the 'Fast and Furious' franchise is a staple of modern cinema. It's one of the most successful film series ever, grossing over US$5 billion worldwide. With huge stars like The Rock, Vin Diesel, and Jason Statham, the series has been a success since its start in 2001.
However, after more than two decades of fast-paced action, the film series is finally coming to an end. The 10th movie, titled 'Fast X,' finally arrives in theaters on May 19, 2023, and is packed with the thrilling excesses the franchise is famous for. It was originally scheduled for release in 2021, but 'F9' took its spot due to the pandemic delays. The Louis Leterrier-directed film stars, of course, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson, with the likes of Brie Larson and Jason Momoa adding extra star power. Dwayne Johnson is notably absent from the list after leaving the franchise due to tension with the star, Vin Diesel. The franchise's longtime director Justin Lin also chose not to be involved in the finale, having also reportedly had major disagreements with Diesel. Regardless, 'Fast X' looks to be a fitting end to one of the most successful film franchises in history.
In this gallery, we recap the hit series and revisit the thrilling journey. Click on!
