MUSIC Retrospective

The Super Bowl returned to Los Angeles for the first time since 1993, and the halftime show certainly stepped up to the occasion.

A historic lineup of legendary rap and hip hop artists took to the stage, marking the first time in Super Bowl history, which included Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and a surprise appearance from 50 Cent. Dr. Dre called the opportunity to perform the halftime show in his own backyard "one of the biggest thrills of my career" and correctly predicted that it would be an “unforgettable cultural moment."

With such a tight set they still managed to deliver so many of their beloved hits, surrounded by expensive cars, a full live band, and a swarm of energetic dancers. They also had a creative stage design of five adjacent party-filled living rooms which let the hip-hop heavyweights weave seamlessly between songs, which included 'California Love,' 'Family Affair,' 'M.A.A.D. City,' 'Lose Yourself,' and more. Many celebrities have commented on Twitter that this was the best halftime show yet.
