Musicians left off the Grammys "In Memoriam"
Fans outraged after Aaron Carter was left out of the televised 2023 Grammy broadcast
©
Getty Images

Every year, the Grammy Awards broadcast their "In Memoriam" segment to celebrate the lives lost since the last ceremony. Those who tribute is paid to were typically influential figures in the music industry. That said, every year there is almost always at least one notable omission.
This year it was Aaron Carter who was noticeably left out of the tribute at the 2023 Grammy Awards show. The singer, who died on November 5 at the age of 34 from suspected overdose, was acknowledged by the Recording Academy in a list shared online prior to the ceremony, but fans were appalled by his omission on television. Carter had rocketed to fame in the late '90s as a pop singer, releasing four studio albums, starting with his self-titled 1997 album which he released when was just nine years old. In his teen years he opened on tours for Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, and he also became a regular on the Nickelodeon show 'All That!'. Later, he transitioned his music career into rap and released his fifth and final album 'Love' in 2018.
