On June 28, flight chaos in Italy erupted due to a failure in the radar system at Milan’s Linate airport. Around 320 flights were canceled or diverted. The disruption also affected other Italian airports, such as in Venice, Rome, and Pisa.

According to ENAV, Italy's flight assistance authority, the radar transmission system began malfunctioning at around 9 pm CEST. The problem was resolved around midnight, and air traffic in the area resumed. There is currently an ongoing investigation to understand the reasons behind the failure, and to consequently implement actions to prevent similar issues from happening in future.

The passengers affected by the disruption are entitled to a refund and assistance from the airline, as per EC Regulation 261/2004, which is a European regulation that outlines the guidelines for passengers in regards to compensation for flight disruptions. Travelers need to submit reports that will be assessed to determine how much compensation they can receive in accordance with European law.
