These days there are more superhero shows on the air than you can count on both hands. So perhaps it comes as no surprise that on shows where differences (i.e. superpowers!) are celebrated, so are LGBT characters. Whether they're superheroes, allies, or villains, there's a growing list of queer characters on your favorite superhero series.
Though many were excited to see Ruby Rose as The CW's 'Batwoman,' her performance was sometimes criticized as leaving something to be desired. Still, when Rose left after the first season, the show was faced with a huge challenge. Instead of re-casting Kate Kane, the second season introduces Ryan Wilder, played by Javicia Leslie, who takes her turn in the suit after Kane's disappearance. Leslie fulfills the show's mandate that Batwoman and the actress that plays her be LGBTQ, but whether she'll fill the role of the caped crusader is what we'll find out as the show continues.
In the meantime, check out this gallery, full of episode stills and behind-the-scenes images, to discover the best of the batch. It's superqueeroes to the rescue!
