Spin-off season is in full swing, with two major franchises branching into new territory.

'The Office' universe is back in business. The first trailer for 'The Paper' dropped on August 7, teasing a new mockumentary that follows a documentary crew diving into the chaos of a struggling Midwestern newspaper. The series premieres on Peacock on September 4 and features the return of Oscar Núñez as fan-favourite Oscar Martinez.

Meanwhile, the creators of 'Stranger Things,’ Matt and Ross Duffer, are reportedly developing a mysterious spin-off series inspired by David Lynch’s 'Twin Peaks.’ While details remain under wraps, star Finn Wolfhard revealed in a Variety interview that it’s likely an anthology series with new characters and storylines, all connected by the show’s dark parallel dimension known as the Upside Down. Netflix has yet to greenlight the project.

Certain TV shows have been part of our lives for as long as many of us can remember. But not all TV shows are created equal; some series have been more successful than others, and, of course, some we do miss and others we don't. When one of our favorite long-lost series is rebooted, it's always a nerve-racking wait to see if it does the original show justice or is simply a money grab.
