Wetlands, often called "nature's kidneys," are ecosystems that filter water, reduce floods, and support biodiversity. In good news for the planet,
31 new cities have been recognized for their outstanding efforts in conserving and managing urban wetlands. These cities were added under the Wetland City Accreditation scheme, which now spans 74 cities across 27 countries. The designation highlights the growing global commitment to protecting these fragile ecosystems, which face mounting threats from pollution, urban sprawl, and climate change. Each city's recognition is a step toward healthier, more sustainable urban environments for people and wildlife alike.
